About this courseThis course is composed of four one modules in ethics. However, unlike most ethics courses, we will not bore you with lectures on what not to do or the rules of professional conduct. This course will raise your awareness of ethical situations that are around you today that you aren't even thinking about. This course will change the way you make decisions and take actions. We will illustrate with numerous case studies that in the absence of ethical intelligence, otherwise good people are highly susceptible to making poor judgments. If that is still not enough to consider this for enrollment, how about this - ethical intelligence has been proven to improve corporate performance!
Session 1: Ethical intelligence
We all know about our general level of intelligence. But there are many different facets of intelligence to consider including emotional intelligence, social intelligence, and ethical intelligence. This webinar will explore them in detail. Ethical intelligence is often ignored in practice, leading to regretful situations where many good people find themselves in embarrassingly bad positions. This webinar will further explore what is our ethical intelligence and why is it that we can rationalize behaviors and decisions that would not typically be representative of our normal moral character. The attendees will have a chance to see first-hand using an incredible case study showing how a small indiscretion can spiral into a scandal and ruin a career.
Session 2: Ethical decay
Why do good people do bad things? We all automatically default to “I’d never do that” as an instinctive reaction to all those highly publicized stories about corporate malfeasance. However, the reality is, many of those involved in these situations had the exact same perspective as you do now before they found themselves in trouble.
This webinar will look at our own susceptibility to engage in unethical actions, behaviors, and decisions. It’s a shockingly slippery slope that anyone can fall into under the right circumstances. This webinar will provide an opportunity to recognize our own infallible human characteristics to help avoid regretting the decisions we make.
Session 3: Ethical approaches
Whether we recognize it or not, we are confronted with ethical situations every day. Ethics dictate how we act, how we behave and guides the decisions we make. How do we avoid regretting our actions later on in life? Regret can sometimes sink in almost immediately, but it can also take years to surface.
The webinar will explore two approaches to dealing with ethical situations and preventing regret. Using a principles-based approach, you will learn to take actions and make decisions keeping in mind five simple to remember (but harder to live by) principles. A prescriptive approach will help you embed ethics into your decision-making process. Both approaches are demonstrated through an integrated case.
Session 4: Ethical organizations
Developing your own ethical intelligence is one challenge, but embedding ethical intelligence across your organization is an entirely different challenge. This webinar explores the role corporate culture has in creating an ethical organization. In doing so, it will explore the core values every organization must embody to create a high-performance and ethical culture.
In this course, you will learn more than just the ideal corporate culture, but proactive measures you can take to change corporate culture. Ultimately, it will attempt to ask and answer the question of whether the ethical organization creates another point of competitive advantage.
