About This Course

This course, "Navigating AI's Role in Employment Law," explores the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the workplace and its implications for employment law. We will examine AI's role in various aspects of employment, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and termination processes.

The course covers key topics such as AI-powered recruitment tools (CV scanning, keyword analysis, video interviews, chatbots, predictive analytics, and background checks); AI in performance evaluation (data sources, privacy concerns, benefits and challenges, legal considerations); and the legal landscape of AI-driven terminations (human review, data access rights, non-discrimination protections, due process, and privacy considerations).

Further, we will delve into the broader ethical implications of AI in the workplace, exploring topics such as bias, transparency, accountability, and the socioeconomic impact of AI-driven job displacement, as well as the global regulatory landscape for AI and employment, focusing on the EU AI Act, US approaches, and the diverse regulatory approaches across Asia and globally.

Upon completion, students will understand the legal and ethical implications of AI in employment, be able to identify potential risks and liabilities associated with AI-driven HR practices, and apply ethical principles to the design and implementation of AI systems in the workplace. The course also examines the Fourth Industrial Revolution, its core technologies, the impact on the job market, the changing nature of work, the implications for workplace practices, and the future of AI and employment law.
